The Urdu Translation of the noble Quran which forms the base of this English translation and commentary was undertaken by the great Muslim scholar popularly known as Shaikh-ul-Hind Maulana Mahmood Hassan. He completed the translation of Arabic Verses and also wrote a commentary for the first 3 parts (Fatiha, Baqara, Aal-e-Imran). The commentary of the rest of the noble Quran was written by Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani, Shaikh-ul-Islam of Pakistan by whose name this commentary is known.

Written by one of the leading Deobandi scholars in India, this translation is more thorough in its commentary than all presently available in English. The methods followed in tafsir are more traditional than those of Yusuf Ali and Maududi, thus the English reader gets the flavor of the Qur'an viewed from the mind of an Ali
